Intercard will showcase its latest cashless play technology on Electrocoin’s stand at this month’s EAG show.

Set to take place at ExCeL London, UK, from January 13 – 15, the company will be sharing its solutions that have been used by some of the largest operators in the country, including Lane7. (Latest Cashless Technology)

On show will be the Impulse Tap, the iTeller Plus XL kiosk and other Intercard products.

The Impusle Tap hybrid reader allows guests to pay with credit card, with Intercard saying that the trend for card over cash is growing year-on-year. The Impulse line of readers is designed to capture players who just want to play a quick few games without buying a game card, giving them the same ease-of-use as game card users.

“In arcades the Impulse has increased overall game revenue by as much as 20 per cent by capturing the business of impulse players,” says Intercard CEO Scott Sherrod. “They have traditionally used cash but that’s becoming rarer as FECs increasingly move from coin-op to cashless technology.”

Gabino Stergides, Electrocoin’s president, said: “The use of cashless systems in amusement centres is growing every day. We are seeing the use of credit card readers on individual machines as well as existing customers converting their operations to cashless systems.

“The UK government is considering adjusting the price per play on coin pushers to include those that would require multiple coins, e.g. £1.50. This would be a big incentive for operators to switch to cashless systems since coin pushers are a staple of UK seaside arcades.”
