The company returned to ACOS this year with an impressive selection of standout new releases including “the star of the show” Electrocoin’s Big Wheel, alongside classic titles Colorama Plus and Bar-X, proving how evergreen mechanics continue to inspire the latest trends.

Speaking to Coinslot, MD John Stergides explained how the supplier made the most of the show’s timing to preview the newest launches for the FEC sector while showcasing the breadth of its product catalogue. (Electrocoin’s Big Wheel)

“At ACOS we were testing as a preview, more than as a normal exhibition, and on that basis it was positive,” said Stergides. “We got what we planned to get – views and suggestions for the games we display.”

“The attendance from the visitors was more or less the same as last year, with more emphasis on Cat B3 and C, but with fair attendance from the FEC sector.”

Though the new Big Wheel was emphatically “the star of the show,” the six-player community ticket redemption game Colorama Plus also received “a very good reaction,” thanks in part to its timeless appeal, with Stergides saying “it’s one of the traditional games, like pushers or cranes, which always give players enjoyment.”

“It was originally made in 1969, then again in the early nineties, and is always one of the few games which gives enjoyment to all due to its simplicity and colourful attraction.”

Elsewhere on the stand, shooting games Mr Do Football Frenzy and Pop Shooter gave players a taste of “real action,” while Photobooth and Magic 7 Key with golden eggs “were accepted very well by all operators.”

“The three-player Bar-X Diamond Cat D was attracting a lot of attention as always, the Bar-X brand is the backbone of most FECs,” said Stergides, adding the selection of Stern Pinballs were also “a big attraction for all ages.”

“All our games and pintables had good acceptance. As usual we got new leads for new locations other than arcades or pubs.”

With such a strong selection, it’s not surprising Electrocoin enjoyed a productive show, and though Stergides noted that the threat of higher taxes “made a few decision makers hold back,” he observed “the majority of operators, especially those who have experience of the past, were more positive than negative.”

“We are now working on new games to have a good selection at EAG as by then we will know the effect of the November Budget, which will either help the industry or put more obstacles in our way.”

“We need the government to help, as we provide the best entertainment to all ages for three years to 93, which all can afford. We want the government to help to grow the industry rather than kill it.”
